Graphite was founded by photographer Mahmoud Marei as a home for the work he wanted to make — and a place where other creatives could make theirs.

The founder

Mahmoud Marei is a Dubai-based photographer and visual artist with more than fifteen years behind the lens — and an exquisite control of light. He works across advertising, beauty, fashion and product for commercial clients.
He began in cityscape, architecture and landscape photography, and left a career as a financial analyst to pursue it full-time. Ansel Adams was the first influence: “You don't take a photograph, you make it.”
A certified international trainer, he has led more than a hundred workshops across Europe, the UAE, Egypt and Jordan, and has appeared on MBC, Sama Dubai and Al Arabiya.
